With no interuptions and plenty of cancellations I've had more time than expected to work on Utter Journal 4. The next issue, now launching towards the end of April, is given over to, Garden. Not how to garden but the essence of the garden as space. A space and a garden that has been shaped and has shaped the process of nature and family over the past 27 years.
At the start of last week I had 550 prints from which to select. I'm down to 105, which is more or less where I need to be. Next comes the process of page layouts and a final edit. I prefer to use hard copies to sift through possible ideas. Working on screen is fine but an image takes on a different feel when it's a physical object. When editing at this scale I feel like a fighter in the ring, eyeing up the opposition!
